We have been slowly developing Social OS in order to cook it to perfection. Social OS attempts to progress in the direction of providing similar functionality to what users have come to expect while standing out in terms of privacy and freedom. We are actually pretty close in terms of what we wanted to achieve, but the more difficult part will be developing an easy deployment system so we can provide hosting. Currently it's up in the air as to whether we want to do the entire thing in house or use some other service. Only time will tell.
